The Secret of Monkey Island: Gold Edition on 360

Some rumours are really weird and don’t seem to make much sense but that being said this one is particularly awesome. The German ratings board, USK has posted a listing for The Secret of Monkey Island appearing on the 360, possibly in a Xbox Live Arcade capacity.

For a title that is one year away from its twenty year anniversary it does seem odd how Lucas Arts have seemingly forgotten its adventure game heritage, and perhaps the greatest games it has ever produced. Its a fact that every fan of gaming over the age of 25 constantly thinks about, even if they aren’t particularly a fan of the adventure genre.

Lucas Arts needs to remember what made it great and hopefully this potential confirmation, could allude to a future trend. If nothing else to give the industry legends Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer and lesser known Dave Grossman some well deserved loyaltys.

Virtual-On: A Mech game you can trust

This Wednesday Sega are releasing the arcade classic Virtual On. Its full title, Cyber Troopers Virtual-On, focuses on arcade Mech combat which is fast, fun and is the perfect fit for short action packed gaming segments.

Look at the dual sticks!

The whole mantra behind this under appreciated gems gameplay is that big stomping robots don’t have to play like, well, big stomping robots. They can be fast, nimble and indeed gracious when zipping around levels during absolutely epic battles. It feels a lot like a brawler with different move sets and certain mobile suits will be more favourable to your personal playing style than others.

It is a very good move for Sega to bring this arcade classic to modern consoles with HD visuals and maybe even a few gameplay tweaks here and there.

The only unfortunate aspect of this Wednesdays release is the price, 1200MS points. Sure this used to be in the arcades and made an appearance on the Dreamcast but surely Sega doesn’t really think that £10.28 is a far price for this game. I know its the ten years anniversary of the Dreamcast’s release in the Western territorys, but still nostalgia can only be pushed so far! Who are are we kidding? We will at least give it a shot.
