Times they are a-changin’

I had some big ideas for this blog when I first set it up in 2013. At the time I was tasked with writing editorial about games by Cranberry Publishing where I was tasked with producing five 300 word-plus articles a-day for GamerZines.com and in between that time I was producing editorial and managing freelance staff for two relatively popular digital magazines PCGZine and MMOZine. Both of which had tens of thousands of regular engaged readers per month.

Since that time, my writing output slowed as I started to care more about quality over quantity. This approach led me to launch the free multi-format magazine FirstLook in partnership with Cranberry Publishing and after 17 successful issues the magazine was retired allowing me to start my next adventure. During that time I fiddled around with publishing unedited gameplay sessions of forthcoming games and I started a podcast with long-time game industry buddy, Joe Robinson, called Generally Speaking.

At this point, you may be asking “yes, yes that’s all well and good, but what’s the point of this post?” Honestly these 200 or so words are designed purely to alleviate some of my guilt for sitting on this domain for the past two years and not posting as much as I’d like. Is that boring? Probably. Self-indulgent? Absolutely, but then that’s what personal blogs are all about and this one will get more active going forward, even if that’s just one extra post a month.

Yes, yes. I know one post a month is hardly enough to keep Googlebot busy, but one has to start somewhere – right?

Onwards and upwards!
