Free Game Soundtrack of the Week: Nitronic Rush

Game soundtracks are finally starting to get the respect they deserve and rightly so. Now it’s not unusual for big releases to pack in a soundtrack CD along with a game or at least the means to download an MP3 compilation, by paying a little extra. Sometimes though developers and publishers are kind enough to release their work for free and that’s what this weekly blog spotlight focuses on.The first entry in this list is the soundtrack by Jordan Hemenway – aka ‘TORCHT’ – for the little known indie-gem Nitronic Rush.

If you think Nitronic Rush looks cool, just wait until you hear it!

The 23-track electro soundtrack compilation can be downloaded for free from the composer’s own website and it really is quite something. If you like fast-paced dance music or ambient electronica you’ll love every track in this compilation.

I’ve run mulitple miles to this soundtrack on cold winter mornings and it has certainly helped to keep my feet jogging along. Make sure you listen to both the regular edition of Hot Pants and the remix – they are bloody brilliant!

Additionally the game which this soundtrack is utilised, Nitronic Rush, can currently be downloaded for free via The Free Indie Bundle initiative, along with SC: 12 Ski Challenge, Stealth Bastard, A Flipping Good Time, and Viriax.

Expect to find another link to a free music bundle on this blog every week. We’re nice like that!
