Today(28th April) marks the four year anniversary of everyones favourite non subscription based MMO Guild Wars.  In a genre which is laden with quick failures and non start ventures, any game which can compete with the juggernaut WoW and still survive is a momentous achievement. Especially when Guild Wars has attracted such a dedicated fan base which recently passed the six million users mark, definitely a number not to scoff at.

Safety in numbers, money too.

It may seem as though a certain writer maybe quite fond of this gem and to be honest I am. One of the players who, in the past, has spent many hours with fellow guild members Black Mantle questing the night away. But here is the thing, how many of the six million registered members still play or at least make even a monthly appearance? Whatever the number NCSoft hope all those relasped players will return for at least the short term to celebrate what made them join in the first place with special birthday celebrations have been happening all week and finished tonite. Novelty weapons, mario kart esque roller-beatle races, treats, quests and even mini-pets, all the details can be found on the official website.  For this week at least, it personally felt like returning to an old home and even reunited with an old pal or two just booting up to see what awaited them in their inventory space. Hopefully the event was a big success for NCSoft and will spur on their efforts for the coming years momentum in the GW universe, or at the very least remind them how many gamers out there are looking forward to Guild Wars 2.
